FESTIVAL WORK SCHEDULES!

There are still openings on the Festival work schedules. Please stop downstairs look over the schedules and sign up to help in the booth of your choice. Everyone is needed so please sign for as many times and booths as you wish.

 

FESTIVAL PASTRIES

Please plan to join us on the following dates to prepare food & pastries for the Festival:

Saturday, Aug. 2nd ­ 10 a.m. ­ Triopita & Spanakopita

Saturday, Aug. 9th ­10 a.m. ­ Baklava

Experienced or novice-all parishioners are invited and welcome! ALSO, we will be calling asking for other Greek Pastry for the variety packs to be sold at the Festival.

 FESTIVAL MEETING

Please plan to attend the Festival Meeting on Wednesday, July 23 ­ 6:30 p.m. at the Church hall. This is a very important meeting, and everyone in the Parish is welcome to attend. Bring anyone/everyone you know that would like to be a chairperson, helper, or just interested.

ORTHODOX BOOKSTORE

If you would like to purchase Orthodox books, icons, or cards from the book store during the summer months please contact Joan Rakes at the office on Mon.- Wed.- Fri. between 10 a.m. ­ 2 p.m. or see Helen Lazanas or Helen Petrow after Liturgy on Sunday mornings.

 WE WILL MISS YOU

David Rakes and his wife Lisa and children Brandon, Kayleigh, and Asia will be moving at the end of July. The Air Force is transferring them to Shreveport, LA. Thank you for your commitment and dedication to Saint John’s you will be missed. Our prayers go with you for a safe journey and may God watch over you in your new assignment.

FESTIVAL FLYERS

There are Festival flyers in several sizes on a table in the Church Hall please take as many as you want. The Church web site also has a graphical flyer you may print out at http://www.synaxis.org/flyer

GREEK FESTIVAL LOTTERY

Our Greek Festival is just a month away and many of you have Festival Lottery tickets. It is so very important that we sell all of our tickets so that our Church can make a good profit. We’ve added more cash prizes. First prize is $10,000, plus nine more chances to win cash. 2nd prize-$1000….3rd prize-$500….4th prize $250…5th prize $250….and five $100 cash prizes. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU RETURN ALL STUBS, CHECKS AND CASH TO MARY MITCHELL AS SOON AS YOU SELL ALL OF YOUR TICKETS. We have a special account at 1st National Bank just for the Lottery Sales. You are responsible for all tickets assigned to you, so please try to sell them or purchase them yourselves. Someone of you will be the lucky winner of $10,000.

WELCOME

Father Constantine Balomenos will be celebrating Divine Liturgy with us for the next two Sunday’s while Father Chris is on vacation. Welcome and Thank you.

 DANCE GROUP MEETING

Teachers and parent representatives for the Greek Dancers will have a meeting following services TODAY in the Philoptochos room. Please plan to attend.

 SERBIAN CULTURAL DAY

The Annual Serbian Cultural Day will be held TODAY 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at St. Nicholas Community Center 50th and Harrison Street. They will be featuring an Ethnic Buffet Dinner, Ethnic Sandwiches & Desserts, Ethnic Music, a Serbian Cultural Booth, BINGO, Meat Wheel, Pickle Cards & Raffles. Please join them for this Great Event!!!

 ATTENTION PARENTS!

The dance group wants to include anyone interested in learning the Greek dances. If you have a child between the ages 4 & 18 that would be interested in joining the dancers please call the church office 345-7103 or contact Nancy Stom.

There is also a young adult group if anyone in that age group is interested.

 FINANCIAL REPORT

The quarterly financial report for St. John’s is posted on the bulletin board downstairs by the back door. Feel free to make a copy in the office if you would like to take a copy home for review. Please leave the original on the bulletin board so that everyone has an opportunity to view our quarterly finances.

 PASSING OF A LOVED ONE

Magdeline (Lily) Karavas mother of Elaine Poulos and Adam & Andy Karavas passed away on Wednesday, July 16th Our prayers and condolences to the family. May her memory be Eternal.

 VCS DVD MOVIE

The 2003 Vacation Church School staff has put together a DVD movie of pictures from this year’s event. The DVD is on display in the Philoptochos room along with some wonderful murals that the kids made. The movie is being left in the DVD player on play, so viewing is as simple as turning on the T.V. set and hitting the play on the DVD machine. The VCS is selling copies of the DVD for $8 as a fundraiser for 2004. If you would like your own copy, contact David or Hellen Elfering
